Description
You are admiring an amazing specimen, a Tonna olearium (Linne, 1758) measuring quite large at 190mm (or 7 1/2")...very unique form featuring beautiful, rounded cords and an incredible color pattern is displayed...such a gorgeous specimen. Also known as the "Giant Pacific Tun" & is one of the largest members of the Tonnidae family that includes all "Tun" shells. The Tun shells are so called because of their large rounded or ovate body whorls and their spires being relatively low. They tend to be rather thin & lightweight & are carnivorous and feed on fish, sea urchins & crabs and live in tropical seas in moderate to deep water. A wonderful addition for your collection & also an awesome display shell for anywhere in your home or office. Thank you for visiting our store this afternoon...and and excellent choice, too!!
