Lot of knobbed whelks (subspecies kiener) dead collected after the recent storms near the Northeast FL coast. Great colors and striping!Vivid orange apertures, as seen in photos.
The Kiener Whelk is a different form of the Knobbed Whelk and is distinguished from the Knobbed Whelk by having more curved knobs and a swelling near the lower part of the body whorl.
