in Very, Very Good condition * one pressbook is missing cover front & back cover *** what to understand is these were made during WW II when everything including paper was rationed or conserved. These were, except for one insert, printed on about newspaper thin paper. Normally these would have been printed with the same paper as the one insert with whiter & thicker paper *** All of these were folded, middle of at one time but they have laid flat for so many years that the pressbooks are very flat with pretty much no indentation line *** the inserts I think were folded before being placed inside or maybe at some point *** I think these all came together with the order page in the “newspaper ads” w/o covers pressbook *** Generally because of photo lights and the sheen of the ink, the photos look lighter. They are darker and the ink a more distinct black.
Pressbook with Cover: size; 14 7/8” tall x 11” wide *** the first 8 pages, counting the cover as #1 are numbered to the stapled middle of book, the last 8 are not numbered *** the 8 pieces of paper are only printed on the front 1/2 of cover page and the inside right hand 1/2 of the rest, so basically 15 pages printed on the folded 8 pieces of paper * the inside of the back cover page is also blank (16 pages) *** the cover page & top right corners 7 pages have corner folds * a bit of the first cover page, corner fold is missing *** the bottom left corner spine cover paper is torn about 2 1/2” with a bit of tear on back and the spine paper is frayed some *** there are some other minor paper tears but pretty minimal considering how fragile the paper is *** the front page has a like fold fine line printing flaw that angles through the bottom of the chins of Clark Gable & Vivien Leigh, the back of (shown in photo 2) shows the line and an very slight ink wash coating flaw of the bottom area *** considering the age, type of paper and intended use, this is in remarkable condition *** I didn’t photograph all of the pages
Pressbook without cover or back cover page: size: 15” tall x 11” wide *** 10 pages not numbered *** like the other, only printed on the front and not back of pages *** the last page shows lobby cards *** I have the little missing piece of paper with part of the letter F *** the page before that is an order page * I think these all came together but there may have been a separate order page insert? *** checking the staples for any paper residue from missing pages or gaps in the staples, I’m sure there were no other pages *** most of the pages are for similar type ads and underneath each image are (a number & lines) (like: 520 lines) I think this is for newspaper ads *** I didn’t photograph all of the pages
Inserts: PHOTOGRAPHIC STILLS: size: a bit less than 15” x 11” * in OK Good condition * two center fold lines * a lower left corner fold line (middle when opened) *** MAKE YOUR OWN: size 15” x 11” * in Very, Very Good condition *** a center fold line
Snapshot photos of Tara: size: each is 5 1/4” wide x 3 1/2” tall *** in very good condition *** these look like they could have been taken not too long after filming or maybe later *** all of these items came together from the same estate sale. There wasn’t much other memorabilia but a cool sort of bohemian sale in West Hollywood, Ca. *** point being that these being found here together in the Hollywood area in such great shape is not unknown *** I do have other really cool memorabilia that I will be listing
Lastly: in the foreground of the first photo is, I think an alcohol bottle. To my warped sense of humor that’s very funny : ) Also, I’m a perfectionist type. I handled these with great care *** will be shipped between double thickness cardboard & oversize.
