Description
Nice Fossilized toned Florida “Fusinus Caloosaensis” Possibly from the Late Pilocene Era. Spindle Shell. The age range is estimated to be from 11 thousand years to 2.5 million years old!! Amazing!
Fossil is well preserved and measures about 2.375”by .75”.
For identification I use the Neogene Atlas of Ancient Life and I contacted the University of Florida Museum of Natural History’s Invertebrate Paleontology Collections Department and they identified most of my collection as Pilocene era fossils from the Pinecrest Beds of the Tamiami Formation.
I was informed the different colorization patterns come from what kind of minerals the pieces were in the ground water where they fossilized.
Each shell will be wrapped individually and shipped with care.
