Description

Ultra rare 9-legged octopus
This is one of the most surprising finds in recent years. Our company works distributing shells and snails for collecting so we have many contacts related to the world of fishing. A few weeks ago, a merchant contacted us to report a strange find, it was this specimen that we offered here, which has developed an extra leg and has 9 in total. Surely there are less than 5 Octopus specimens like this known in the world, on the Internet there is only evidence of 2 and this is the third.
In November 2020, one 9-legged was found on the northeast coast of Japan and the news was published in most of the important mass media. The other specimen of which there is evidence was found by the chef of a restaurant in Florida in 2010, the related news and all the information are also available online.
The third specimen known offered here was collected on June 16, 2021 on the coast of Cambrils, Tarragona, Spain (Mediterranean Sea). At a depth of 30 meters. The scientific name of the species is Eledone cirrhosa, popularly known by the common name "White Octopus".
It's currently preserved in alcohol and the shipment can be made safely declaring the content as material for scientific study -without commercial value-. To help preserve the specimen, it will be included in a plastic bag and plastic container soaked in cotton alcohol and hermetically sealed. The package will be small, less than 400gr. weight and 15x15cm.
There is the possibility of adding a parcel insurance at the request and cost of the buyer. Shipping costs include express service so the buyer can receive it in a few days.
We can send the photographs in High Resolution to whoever requests it.
The specimen lacks the Beak (jaw) and the parts corresponding to the interior of the head (digestive system, stomach, etc.) that were extracted during the cooking preparation process. Although it
wasn't cooked since the rarity of the 9 legs was found earlier. The weight of the specimen is 85gr. and the size is small, approximately 15cm (without extending the legs).
The merchant who contacted us to offer this rarity has been working for more than 40 years making wholesale purchases and exports, negotiating more than a thousand kilos of octopus weekly and this is the first time that something like this appears. Other professionals in the sector were consulted and no one has been aware of a similar finding so far. Very interesting and unique, especially on a scientific level for research and museums.
In the last photograph you can see the fresh specimen just obtained.
We are at your disposal for any questions.
