William Lewis & Son, German made 13" viola, model 2520-13. The grain and rich caramel luster of the finish are superb. There are a few small cosmetic dings and scuffs, principally to the edging, and some wear directly under the bridge, where the feet meet the wood. There is a deeper scratch to the lower bout, on the G string side, close to the chin rest, and two scratches to the back running parallel to the edge on either side of the lower section. The back is very attractive, with some splendid lateral flaming and deep amber tones. These cosmetic imperfections are generously reflected in the price - a used viola such as this typically sells for 0 or more. It's certainly possible there are other adjustments required, as with any vintage instrument - I am not an expert, and there may be issues I am unaware of. The viola comes with a hard case, in excellent condition with a plush blue interior, and a basic Glasser bow. This is an excellent student model, perfect for a young enthusiast who has demonstrated a passion for the instrument.
